Seeing what’s happening. Shaping what comes next.
Systemic Organisational Consultant ·
Creative Producer · Filmmaker
I support founders and leadership teams when something important is changing.
For more than 20 years, I have worked across leadership, filmmaking and creative production in the UK and Europe — building and directing not-for-profit organisations, collaborating with boards, navigating operational complexity and producing significant cultural projects and events.
I understand the strategic and practical demands of organisational life in the third sector - from funding and development, leading resilient teams, putting strong governance and foundations in place, to embedding purposeful culture and cultivating the partnerships needed for social impact and sustainable outcomes.
I also understand the less visible forces that shape an organisation - and how they can support or stand in the way of successful missions and transitions.
ABOUT
Lilian Simonsson is a systemic consultant and creative producer. A former founding director of Enthum Foundation, a pioneering UK charity supporting displaced young people, she works with forward-thinking leaders and organisations navigating development, growth, restructuring, endings and renewal.
A passionate partnership builder, she brings an extensive international network spanning cultural, statutory, environmental, community, faith, political, therapeutic, luxury hospitality, philanthropic and creative sectors. Her strength lies in connecting diverse stakeholders and the creating the conditions for strategic and meaningful collaborations.
Her latest project, The Dialogue Room, brings people together across divides around some of the big conversations of our time, including through systemic constellation work.
Alongside her consultancy practice, she is an exhibiting visual artist and filmmaker, having directed and co-produced more than 40 short and feature films for clients including the BBC, Tate Channel, Chiltern Firehouse and charity partners.
She also founded the bespoke boutique tea brand Arteasan, grows medicinal gardens and is devoted to lifelong learning about botanicals and the natural world.
HOW I Work
Our world is changing rapidly. Yet many of the ways we lead, organise and make decisions are inherited from a different time. They can overlook the forces that profoundly shape organisational life: history and memory, power and belonging, relationships with the wider collective and the invisible dynamics between people.
My approach is systemic, strategic, creative, solution-focused and deeply human. I look beyond the operational task lists and presenting issues to include what is also happening — where power sits, what has become stuck, what is not being said, what is being carried from the past, what needs to be protected, reimagined or is trying to emerge.
I help leaders see more clearly, ask better questions, sometimes make difficult decisions and turn insight into impactful action — without losing sight of the mission at the heart of the organisation during times of change.
My background in filmmaking and creative production adds another dimension to my work - narrative and visual thinking, and a capacity to bring people together around a shared vision and turn it into reality. I understand the power of story - and how the stories we inherit shape how we see ourselves, our organisations and what we believe is possible.
I don't offer generic solutions or approaches. I work with the unique realities of each organisational system and its wider field, while providing practical, strategic support.
My mission is to help leaders, organisations and their stakeholders to navigate uncertainty and complexity with clarity and integrity, creating the conditions for a flourishing future.
